Redesign of my found french chair

I’ve had this design concept in the back of my mind for years and am excited to finally implement it; Not for a hesitant client but for myself.

I was recently attending an estate sale out on Lake Malllalieu and found this wonderful French armchair frame. The perfectly flawed wood frame was surprisingly sturdy. Asking price $80.00. My husband offered $50.00 and the bickering began. I went home with my new find for $50.00

My mission – keep this as cost effective as possible. My dear friend Anne Graham and I set out, per her suggestion, to SR Harris fabric outlet: www.srharrisfabric.com

We dug through all the faux fur anyone would ever want to see. Most of it being Halloween costume quality, we finally score two high quality faux furs to bring back to my studio to study with the French frame.

Per my upholstery workroom, Grahn’s Upholstery, who I have used for the last 20 some years, I needed 3 yards. Each colorway was $29.99 per yard and with Anne’s quickly produced ½ off coupon, I walked away with quite the deal.

The frame, fabric and selected nail heads have been sent to Grahn’s for refinishing—a touch up really as I like the rustic patina that the chair absorbed through it’s lifetime.

Check back for the unveiling of the final piece.
