I’ve experienced many female restrictions here in the Kingdom and have sadly adhered to the required rules. The “foreigners only” beaches have been great havens of relief. I’m ecstatic to report that a couple of weeks ago I went to check out another “Ladies only” floor located at our hotel’s sister- hotel located next door. SHOPPING AT THE SOUK

SOUKS (Open Air Markets) Last weekend we headed out to the oldest souk in Jeddah which is located in and around Old Town Jeddah (see post 01.10.2010) Here amongst the oldest buildings of this ancient Sea side city are some amazing items for sale such as authentic gold jewelry, elaborately embellished abayas, spices, fruits, nuts and some then some not so amazing counterfeit everything–handbags, watches, etc. galore.
